Happy Fall Everyone!

Welcome!!!! I'm writing this short note to wish you a wonderful and enriching 2025-26 academic year.

I hope you all had a good and restful summer.

As we face unprecedented challenges and chaos in the coming months, I want to begin this welcome by saying that ASA is here for you, in and beyond the classroom. Every year is a chance to redefine and reaffirm our mission and vision and we hope to do this collectively with you. We welcome and invite you to join us in our classrooms, events, office hours, and community lounge (Hart Hall 3102).

I am also writing to welcome two new faculty, Professor Athia Choudhury and Professor Najwa Mayer!!!! Please say hello to them in the Hart Hall hallways and during their office hours. Please check out Prof. Choudhury’s ASA 189b course: Eating and the Politics of Wellness this FALL, M/W 12-2pm. We also welcome Professor Grace Wang from American Studies who will be teaching Asian American Music this fall, TR: 210-4pm.
