The Asian American Studies Department is co-sponsoring a Community Forum and Campaign Launch for Charles Joseph. After serving 12-years in prison and being found eligible for parole, ICE detained Charles for 11 months, and is attempting to deport him back to Fiji, a country he left in his youth. A pardon from Governor Newsom would allow Charles Joseph to restore his lawful permanent resident status, apply for citizenship, and give him the chance to remain with his family and community.

During the event, speakers and advocates will talk about Charles' story as well as the impact his story has on the API community, as well as ways to help him.

The event will take place on August 30th, from 2-3PM PST. RSVP at tinyurl.com/josephcommunity for Zoom Link. To learn more about Charles, please visit bit.ly/CharlesPardonCampaign.
