On behalf of the faculty and staff of Asian American Studies, I want to extend a warm welcome back onto campus. We look forward to seeing you soon in class and at the ASA office getting some snacks and studying in our community lounge (Hart Hall 3102).
I would also like to invite you to a series of events that we have programmed for this upcoming quarter and year. Please see below the attached flyer about our events this fall including a reading by Curtis Chin of his memoir about growing up in Detroit, a mini exhibition and dance performance at the Mondavi Performing Arts Center that engages the topic of anti-Asian violence, scholar Jasbir Puar, and our FALL Welcome where you will get a chance to meet ASA faculty and sip some boba.

Towards the end of October, Professor Mark Jerng has organized a wonderful symposium, "Stars, Earth, and Coral: Pacific Entanglements and Futures Beyond the Human," with Professors Aimee Bahng, Nicole Kuʻuleinapuananiolikoʻawapuhimelemeleolani Furtado, Frances Tran, and a special performance, “Asian futures, without Asians" by Astria Suparak.
I look forward to connecting with you this quarter. Please stay tuned for more updates, and connect with us on Instagram @ucdasa and Facebook!
